Great cozy room with tatami mats. Slept very comfortably. The location is great, close to onsens and food store right outside. Host was fantastic, very friendly and kind, and knowledgeable about the area.

The town is really cute with lots of great shops and the onsen at the hotel was super relaxing. There were a lot of children at the public onsen so we decided to skip most of them and felt the one night we stayed was enough

Kinosaki Onsen is such a charming town.
Kinosaki Onsen is such a charming town. After spending a week running around cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, it was nice to unwind in a small town that was very self-contained but also had some nice outdoor activities like exploring Mt. Daishi, in addition to the 7 public baths.

If you love onsens and seafood, this is the perfect place to go unwind and dine. Kinosaki Onsen is a small, photogenic town that feels more like a neighborhood. There are many kinds of restaurants, but especially crab seems to be the hit here, with shops that sell them right out on the street.
Tip: a few websites offer real-time percentages of how busy any onsen in the area is.

we stayed at Yamamotoya Ryokan, Kinosaki Onsen for one night which was too short.
overall Kinosaki Onsen is a gem of a village. It is picture perfect and with lots of "protected" traditional Japanese wooden frame homes.
You travel back in time ! old houses, people on yukatas and clogs, a small stream passes thru the middle of town with willow trees. few vehicles and few locals on roads, a typical tourist village.
The best time to enjoy the atmosphere and ambience - dusk. Esp with the street lights and lights from the roadside buildings
My Ryokan is fantatstic - we visited during shoulder season and prices were great. Will come again in autumm 2024. there are extra costs to be paid for public onsen but well worth.
Tried 4 public onsen which was awesome - cave onsen, outdoor onsen facing a mountain stream, outdoor onsen. The morning public bath was less busy with few users while the evening baths was very busy, My choice of onsen was Gohsonronyu, outdoor facing a trees and mountain stream and the cave onsen. kinosaki is technically an ONSEN village.
we dropped our luggage to be delivered to hotel opposite the train station. went exploring the village and used the cable car to offer prayers to the village onsen guardian. everywhere is within walking distance

Kinosaki is a wonderful place to be in.
Kinosaki is a wonderful place to be in. However, it can get a bit touristy during some months. We went in September which is considered the low season, yet we felt that there were too many people around. However =, it is still the best onsen town in the Kansai region.
After staying in both chain and independent hostels in Japan, and elsewhere in the world, I have to say this was my favourite hostel experience. It truly felt like my friend and I had just been invited to a family member's home to stay for the night. It was such a lovely and cozy experience! The decor is whimsical, the kitchen is well-stocked, the showers and facilities are fantastic, and the room we stayed in was tatami and lovely. Whenever I am in the Toyooka area again, I will be returning to stay at Hostel Act :)
EVERYTHING !!!
The hotel is very very clean. The Onsen inside the hotel is FANTASTIC !!! Very private and super comfortable. No need to visit the 7 public onsens at all (unless you wanted to try out and compare)
The breakfast was so nice and a big spread of food.
The staff, including the front desk personnel, the restaurant staff and the important driver. Best of the best staff around. Very polite and extremely thoughtful !!
Very good hotel and definitely recommend to anyone who wanted to visit Kinosaki.
I don’t understand why some people complained. There is no bad smell. To the contrary, there were bouquets of fresh lilies everywhere. The rooms and bathrooms had fresh chrysanthemums. The onsen was beautiful. The room was spacious and clean. The staff are brusque in a very country style way, but kind and funny. They were very eager to try and communicate. The place was loaded with delightful details. There is a koi pond in the hotel that has an interesting architectural twist. Really, all good.
I stayed at a renovated historical building, and the furniture and amenities were wonderful. The bath was also great. There were many delicious restaurants and amazing select shops near the facility. If I drove for 20 minutes, I could also go to the Kinosaki Onsen Street. The seafood was superb, cheap and fresh. Above all, the service of the hotel staff was wonderful, and I could experience the care that I could not find in a five-star hotel. It was a wonderful hotel... I definitely want to come back.
Great service! The luggage was brought to the room in advance. The guest room is spacious and equipped with an air purifier, making it very comfortable to sleep in. They also provided hot water, cold water, and some snacks. The large glass windows offered a relaxing view of the mountains across. The dinner and breakfast at the restaurant embodied the essence of kaiseki cuisine. The tableware and service were also meticulously prepared. I will choose this hotel again next time.
The owner was so very helpfu,l kind and accommodating. The staff were all helpful friendly and tried so hard. We couldn't speak a word of Japanese but they did so well making us feel comfortable. My husband loved all the food. I tried it all but found some of it difficult. But that's not the fault of the hotel. I wanted to try Local food and that's what I got. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Its not up market but very comfortable and friendly.
The outdoor public Onsen was one of the best I’ve been to, so far. Not only that, but our room was very comfortable and clean. They also offer massages for a fair price. I definitely recommend experiencing the hot stone massage. My only suggestion would be to have a bigger private Onsen bath for the more expensive suites. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. I would highly recommend it if you have the money for it.
Traditional Japanese room, which means everything is floor level and the pillows are made of buckwheat kernels. The room was spacious, comfortable but not luxurious. The bath was very nice, so was the pond and garden, and the dinner I reserved was excellent. A shuttle bus operates from 4pm to the onsen in town but it’s a short walk. It’s quite a large hotel.
We are so lucky to have selected this Inn - the room was enormous and very luxurious for the price. The hotel's hot spring baths we never busy and so clean. The breakfast was delicious and very filling. Free happy hour wine, beer, and sochu. Just an amazing stay!
The personal was very friendly and helpful.
The Dinner was one of the best, we had in Japan. One evening beef Shabu Shabu was served. World class. The hotel is placed in the center of Kinosaki, so one can reach every Onsen in a few minutes walk.
The staff who prepared the breakfast were really kind and the food was excellent. I also liked how convenient it was to reach the hotel from the station and how there were convenience stores and cheap food places all in a 10 minute radius.
very clean and minimalist
close to train station
amazing staffs
very good breakfast and coffee
they can keep your luggage before and after check in
cafe has foot bath, lovely atmosphere
cheaper than other hotels nearby
Great location, easy walking to the picturesque river in our Yukata and clogs provided by the hotel. Drinking tea with our feet in the foot baths in the café that serves as the hotel entrance was a nice experience.
Staff were very accommodating and attentive and provided great service. Rooms were fantastic and hotel was in very convenient location to enjoy all the baths. Hotel also has own baths which were enjoyable to use.
The breakfast is good and yummy, especially the bread.
We have tajima steak course for dinner, which is superb. The beef is high quality tajima beef. The hotel is in the walking distance to JR station.
I really liked the hotel. For the price I felt it was good value for money. I will absolutely look to stay here again the next time I'm in town. It was the type of experience I was looking for.
Breakfast was nice served in the room. Hotel is really nice and traditional. There are also Green Tea Ceremony by hotel’s owner mom. It was impressive.
Thank you and hope to visit again :)
so peaceful, the family who runs this hotel / cafe are so kind ! i wish i got more time here, kinosaki is a must visit for people touring japan. breakfast was super yummy as well :)
