Friendly family run hotel. As they said, the rooms were humble, however, it was clean & comfy & the air conditioning was a big benefit. Also being able to park in front of the hotel was great. The breakfast was plentiful with delicious home made cakes. Luna, their border collie dog was delightful... gentle, friendly & obedient. For our one night stop it was perfect.

A reservation was made for my mum and initially it was going okay, until she started hearing knocks on her room door, she went to the door several times but no one was there but the knocks kept on coming. She reached out to me and we were all worried now for her as she went alone. There was no one at the hotel, she called the hotel and I did too from my end, but no response. This was 23:00. At this point, she was freaking out and she had to call the Police. The Police came and confirmed that there was NO ONE in the whole hotel which was strange. No receptionist, nothing!!! My mum stayed awake all night and in the morning, the owner claimed that they live in the property and that my mum was talking loudly and that was why the next door guest knocked at her door. Now no one confronted her to tell her that she should keep it down if truly that claim was true. The owner didn’t tell her neither did the guest. When the Police came, my mum was the one who opened the door for the Police to gain entrance into the property. NO ONE came out to say she was talking loudly. How do you keep knocking and not show your face and then no single person was in the whole hotel except my mum? Confirmed by the POLICE! Extremely bad experience that left my whole family on edge and my mum traumatized.

Wonderful atmospheric largely medieval and early Renaissance City - very compact and walkable. Less than 45 minutes from Florence by train but with less than 1 % of the tourist numbers. Surrounded by wonderful countryside. Beautiful in itself as well as being an ideal touring base at a fraction of the price or congestion of Florence. Very easy to get around on foot and with a very good selection of restaurants in the historic center serving excellent Tuscan cuisine

Having stayed in the hustle and bustle of Pisa and Florence...
Having stayed in the hustle and bustle of Pisa and Florence previously, I loved the more laid back feel here.
Plenty of cafes, restaurants, little shops, beautiful architecture all within walking distance and not overly crowded.
The little squares had live music and the local families came out together to eat on Sunday. There was even a local wine tasting tour around the squares - you purchased a glass (refundable, or keep as a souvenir) and then 'tickets' to try the different wines at each trattoria that was participating - some 20+ - needless to say, a little tiddled by the afternoon!
The market (on Wednesday and Saturday) was lovely and there were no street traders bothering you with their fake watches and leather goods that were everywhere in the bigger cities.
Pistoia was the best part of our Italian tour!

While it is a typical Italian Toscana town, it has a lot of space for improvements. Amazing floral sites and offers but otherwise the streets and buildings feel neglected except of around the few main attractions. But that's quite common even in Florence or Pisa. Obviously not a lot of need to do more when your sites are full of tourists anyway. :)

Small but beautiful, with a friendly, bustling feel.
Small but beautiful, with a friendly, bustling feel. Close to Florence, Lucca and Pisa (all on the same branchline by train). Stunning architecture, but quieter and less crowded than Florence. A hidden gem! I believe it is well known for its garden centres - I saw some of them from the train. And someone told me thare is a train museum there, but I can't confirm that
Very generous complimentary gifts from the Host I.e. well stocked fridge, fruit basket, cakes and wine. Ina was very helpful, friendly and informative. She sent text updates on things to do in Pistoia. Very central location. The air con in all rooms was brilliant given the temperatures at night. We had everything we needed eg kitchen facilities and lots of clean towels, not forgetting the beautiful toiletries : soaps, hand wash and shampoos. Couldn’t have asked for more.
Staying at Il Mulino was such a nice beginning on our Italy visit. The family living at the farm was friendly and allowed us to experience what the nature gives. The location is good, next to Pistoia Zoo which was a pleasant visit and within 30 minutes drive from Pinocchio park. We love staying outside the cities although it was nice that Pistoia are close with its stores and supermarkets.
The apartment we stayed in was nice, clean and well equipped.
We had a wonderful stay at Dimora Storica Palazzo Puccini! Fabiana, our host and the hotel manager, was friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable The breakfast was exceptional! We found it to be very conveniently located, as it is right in the center of Pistoia, just a short walk from the train station, museums and San Zeno Cathedral. This where we will stay when we return. Thank you Fabiana!
The surrounding grounds of the hotel were well tended and the garden setting for dining was lovely. The pool area was spacious and there were always loungers available. Pistoia is a beautiful, medieval Tuscan city and is vibrant with restaurants and bars in the evening. Although the Villa Cappugi is on the outskirts of the town it is only about a 20 minute walk to the old centre - as long as it is not too hot!.
This palazzo is stunningly beautiful and was beyond any expectations. Our room was spacious with a comfortable four poster bed and exquisite furnishings. Chiara and Fabiana were very friendly and helpful and served a delicious breakfast with superb tea and coffee. There was also a lounge area to relax in with cake and hot drinks after a long day. The historical sights of Pistoia are just on the doorstep .
self check-in anytime is a great opportunity for those, who comes late. apartment is really large, you can easily travel there 2 couple and feel comfy (except 1 bathroom). everything was clean, comfy bed, lots of kitchen staff.
about 10 minutes walk from the pistoia train station. restaurants, food market in the morning, grocery shops, gelateria - everything is right under your windows.
The Host was the best in all our 13 stays during this trip through France and Italy , rooms amazing breakfast unbelievable ,variety quantity and service , she was the most amazing host ,and I would stay there always the only problem she only has 2 rooms so book early and do not be disappointed. to miss this lifetime experience . I would like to rate this accommodation at least 12 or 15
We experienced some negative surprises but the staff was great and always trying to help. The bed was large and comfy. The restaurant staff was very nice and accommodating, the food was great too. The location is exceptional, remote and high up in the hills, with beautiful views of Pistoia and the valley. The road to get to the hotel is an adventure in itself.
Nice comfortable room with a really big bathroom. Staff are friendly but speak little English. Swimming pool is shared with outside guests (looks like guests outside the property can buy a day ticket and use the swimming pool as well). Breakfast is simple (compared to all the buffet breakfasts we've had in North Italy) but enough.
The apartment was lovely, bright open windows, 6 radiators, (in the cold, in Italy, this matters!), and immaculate. Wonderful location, great close by parking, and truly, an amazing staff, from check in, to all things involved, thank you so much Manuela, what a great host! Truly, one of the nicest places I have ever stayed.
The hotel looks immaculate and modern. The staff was amazing and made us feel very welcome for our one night in Pistoia. Great location, extremely comfortable in the Italian summer heat with individually adjustable room temperature, big confortable bed, it was great.
Those who kike very quiet will find the perfect place here. the furnish looks old-fashion, but fit in wirh the country side.
The landlord understand you well, but is never in the mood to answer in english, they speak only Italy.
But all worked in the end.
Location absolutely fantastic - only a few yards from the beautiful central square of Pistoia and the historic Duomo. Really superb restaurants a few yards away with some of the best local cuisine in Italy. Doesn't get any better.
